Helen Keller said, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing." Every day we are confronted with the choice of comfort vs growth and believe me there is nothing I'd rather do than sit on the couch with a book or newspaper and a cup of coffee in the morning or a beer at night. I suppose it’s arguably better than consuming television or social media. But it is still sitting. And sitting is bad for you. We all need to get off the couch.
When people ask me why I am challenging the seemingly impossible goal of completing all four trails in Hong Kong in under 60 hours I often say, "It gets me off the couch," meaning the training for it does. Any individual run, or walk, or strength-training session is the small action necessary to achieve the bigger goal.
But one problem with telling people what your big goal is is that they will often say, "that's impossible," or "you're crazy." Don't listen to them. They are projecting their own fear of taking action. Chris and I are out to prove that ordinary people can do seemingly impossible things, "break impossible." Get off the couch. Get out there.
